Flores appoints events coordinators for Salakayan 09

MIAGAO, Iloilo-The Municipality of Miagao is making ready for the celebration for the town's 293rd Founding Anniversary and Salakayan Festival 2009 slated on February 8-15, this year.

In her Executive Order No. 2008-40 she signed on November 13, 2008, Municipal Mayor Julieta N. Flores named Municipal Tourism Officer Edison N. Molanida as the over-all coordinator of the prestigious event.

Aside from Molanida, Mayor Flores also assigned SB-in-charge and chairpersons in every activity to ensure success and to see to it that the purpose of every activity is being achieved. They are: Hon. Eliezer P. Magallanes and Jose Maria Monteclaro for the Food Fair; Hon Suzita M. Go and Angeli Alli for the Thanksgiving Mass; Hon. Leonardo N. Naldoza and Raymundo Monroy for the Fluvial Parade; Hon. Jessica P. Torrecampo and Engr. Jerome Novilla for the Salakayan Parade; Hon. Serafin N. Monteclaro for the Liga ng mga Barangay Night; Vice Mayor Jose Rey N. Noble and Dr. Raul F. Muyong for the Search for Outstanding Miagaowanon; Hon. Orlando S. Paulma and Edison Molanida for the Tribes Contest; Hon. Jeralyn N. Valenzuela and Nicolas Moragas for the Higantes Contest; Arjane N. Polido for the Miagao Chorale Presentation; Hon. Go and Clarita Monteclaro for the Coronation of Queen of Miagao.

She also appointed Atty. Gerardo N. Flores as chairperson of the Finance Committee, John Nocal for the Souvenir Program, T. Arlene F. Nufuar for the General Services and Food Committee, Engr. Diosdado Facon for the Engineering Services, P/Insp. Arnold O. Moleta for the Peace and Order, Jerome Novilla for the Documentation and Adora B. Mande for the Publicity.
The week-long celebration is being celebrated annually in order to promote the town's tourism potential, preserve and enrich the local culture, encourage entrepreneurship and foster economic prosperity.

The festivities are aggregately rooted in the enlivening of the town's history against a backdrop of outstanding natural, man-made and intangible heritage.

Among the activities that were lined-up for the celebration are: Food Festival at the Plaza, Nightly Socials, Search for Miss Salakayan, Salakayan and Fluvial Parade, Tribes Contest, Higantes Presentation and Coronation of Queen of Miagao.
This year's celebration banners the theme "Katampad, Kapisan, Kaisog: Sadsaran sang Mapag-on ng Pagtuo kag Pagserbisyo".
